Snow Day!

Yesterday was a snow day for all of us. The kids played outside. Tim was craigslisting all day, and me and the dogos spent the day on the couch. I finally got caught up on everything I had DVRed. It was nice to have a break from the daily grind.

Neologism- (noun) a new word, meaning, usage, or phrase

Once again, The Washington Post has published the winning submissions to its yearly neologism contest, in which readers are asked to supply alternative meanings for common words.

Examples:

1.Lymph (v.), to walk with a lisp.

2.Gargoyle (n.), olive-flavored mouthwash.

3. Testicle (n.), a humorous question on an exam.

The Washington Post's Style Invitational also asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing ONE letter, and supply a new definition.

Examples:

1.Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.

2.Hipatitis (n): Terminal coolness.

3.Giraffiti (n): Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

I've decided to make this a weekly post (maybe, we'll see how it goes) just for fun and to give my readers a chance to submit their own and show how clever they really are.

Wow! I used to be crazy!

This morning Tim and I decided to drive the bike to church. The kids rode with my inlaws and it was just he and I hittin' the highway. It was a great ride. On the way there I was reflecting on the past when we used to ride together all over this city. Today I had on jeans, leather boots, leather coat, gloves, helmet, and sunglasses. About 15 years ago I didn't give it a second thought to jump on the back of his bike wearing nothing but a bikini top, daisy dukes and cowboy boots. No helmet, no safety gear, nothing to protect myself from the unforgiving asphalt. Wow! I can't believe I used to be that crazy. Never even thought about the ramifications back then if something were to go wrong. Just living free I guess. Older and wiser (somewhat) these days. I do know one thing, Ayden Lynn (my 6 yr. old daughter), wont' be caught dead in an outfit like that and for sure won't be riding on the back of her crazy boyfriend's bike without being leathered up from head to toe!

Little League

I know it's only January, but "Spring Training" will be upon us soon. That said, I am reminded of some of the parents that I can't stand to listen to at the games. The kind that deserve to hear something like this:

They Deserve It!

Metallica was nominated for the R&R Hall of Fame.

I love this band. I've seen them in concert several times, although not lately, due to life and kids.Best show ever...Guns and Roses and Metallica at Texas Stadium. Those were the days. Well maybe not. I pawned my sewing machine to my mom for $30 so I would have cash to chip in for gas and food for the trip....But , the show rocked!
